How Much Should I Weigh?
'How much should I weigh?' is a good question, to which there are two critica
l parts to the problem ... firstly, the impact your weight has on your physical health and secondly, the impact on your psychological wellbeing...or how your weight makes you feel about yourself.
To help you determine quickly and easily the impact your weight may have on your health, we have created simple, accurate tables for what you should weigh. These tables are in either stones and pounds alongside pounds, or kilograms. The ranges given in the table show you clearly the upper and lower weight limits for your health at any given height.
The tables do not take into account age or sex, as according to the World Health Organization, the desirable weight for height ratio should be the same at any adult age and the same for both men and women, so if you are looking for an answer to how much should I weigh for my age and height or for a man or woman, then that simply boils down to how much should I weigh for my height.
The only caveat is that different ethnicities have slightly differing ranges; but adjusting your weight to a few pounds within the range for your height would be a successful health accomplishment for most people.
So the first part of the answer in relation to your health lies within the tables. Simply select your units of choice and click on (pounds) or (kilos) above to find the correct table.
Alternatively, you can simply use the calculator in the upper left corner of this site. This calculator will give you the same information ie what you should weigh as a range, but the calculator can be used to determine what you should weigh at any age from 2 years upwards.
How Much Should I Weigh? (pounds and st/lbs)
The chart below is easy to read from. Scroll down to your height on the left of the table and along to the underweight and overweight categories to find your weight range.
So for example someone of 5ft 6ins in height would be expected to weigh either 115 to 155lbs or alternatively from 8st 3lbs to 11st 1lb (the alternatives are simply to cover most international choices of weight scales).
